Welcome to Brookhaven: Play Therapy in a Digital Neighborhood

Part of the 2026 Geek Play Therapy Summit

Digital play spaces are increasingly becoming meaningful environments for children’s expression, exploration, and engagement.

Roblox, and specifically the open-world platform Brookhaven, offers a dynamic digital landscape where themes of identity, autonomy, connection, and problem-solving naturally emerge. For play therapists, these spaces present unique opportunities to observe and engage with play in forms that are culturally relevant to digital native children. This training is designed to introduce play therapists to the intentional use of Roblox as a digital play therapy tool, grounded firmly in foundational play therapy principles.

The training will begin with an overview of digital play within play therapy practice, emphasizing how core components of play and the therapeutic powers of play are expressed in virtual environments.

Participants will explore how open-world digital play spaces such as Brookhaven function as modern playrooms, supporting the play therapy process. The training encourages play therapists to approach digital worlds with curiosity, openness, and a developmentally informed lens.
