About

Step into a world of fantasy and science fiction, where heroes embark on epic quests, alliances are forged, and resilience is tested—just like in the therapeutic journey. In this immersive workshop, we will explore the power of storytelling, character archetypes, and role-playing from beloved worlds such as Lord of the Rings, Dungeons & Dragons, and beyond, using these narratives to support self-exploration, emotional processing, and identity development in play therapy. By integrating fantasy and sci-fi themes into play therapy, clinicians can tap into clients' strengths and interests, creating a safe and empowering space where they can explore complex emotions, process personal challenges, and build confidence—just as their favorite heroes do. Whether it's overcoming betrayal, learning the value of camaraderie, or finding inner courage, these themes resonate deeply with clients of all ages, allowing them to redefine their personal narratives through the lens of their favorite stories. As play therapists, it’s essential to meet clients where they are—which means understanding and embracing these fantastical universes as therapeutic tools. This workshop will provide clinicians with the knowledge, strategies, and interventions needed to confidently incorporate fantasy and sci-fi themes into play therapy, making sessions more engaging, meaningful, and impactful.
